Rings in vertical mill casting
Rings are used together with hollow balls in vertical mill casting. The hollow ball fits between them. They are most often used for coal grinding in VBMs (vertical ball mills) which are also known as pulverizers. The rings are not segmented, but are supplied as monobloc castings. They are available in various grades of alloys to provide extra wear resistance. The most usual materials used for their manufacture are Ni Hard equivalent which contains Nickel, or a High-Chrome iron alloy. The largest size of ring has an outer diameter of 2,830 mm.
