Magotteaux expands its Contagem plant in Brazil, increasing grinding media production capacity

On August 19, 2026, the year in which Magotteaux celebrates 50 years of operations in Brazil, the company marked an important milestone with the inauguration of the expansion of its plant in Contagem, Minas Gerais.
The ceremony brought together members of the Sigdo Koppers Board of Directors, the Magotteaux Executive Committee, as well as Brazilian and international authorities, partners and employees.
Through this strategic investment, Magotteaux is adding more than 40,000 tons of annual High Chromium grinding media production capacity, bringing the plant’s total annual capacity to approximately 110,000 tons. This expansion further strengthens Magotteaux’s ability to meet growing demand and serve customers across Brazil and Latin America.
More than an increase in production capacity
The expansion incorporates advanced technologies, greater operational efficiency and sustainability-driven initiatives, supporting Magotteaux’s ambition to improve the efficiency of its production processes while reducing its carbon footprint.
The investment also reinforces Magotteaux’s long-term commitment to Brazilian industry and the mining sector, contributing to a stronger and more competitive local supply chain while generating value for customers, employees and local communities.
