Our sustainability approach

Our sustainability approach

A framework for sustainable growth

Sustainability isn’t new to us – it’s been part of our story from the start. Our approach is guided by four sustainability principles.

We drive sustainable innovation by designing high-performance products that last. We find ways to advance responsible consumption and production, and reduce emissions by investing in renewable energy. We deliver social impact by fostering a workplace environment rooted in equality, respect and fairness – where health and safety are non-negotiable – while actively engaging with our local communities.

Above all, we build trust by conducting business responsibly, remaining transparent and staying accountable to our commitments.

Driving sustainable innovation

Increasing the lifespan of our products has always been in our DNA. We’re continuously driving sustainable innovation in our operations, reducing the environmental impact of most of our products and cutting transport emissions.

  • Our innovative “Expand One” project doubles the lifespan of wear parts for vertical mills, reducing customers’ carbon footprint and operational costs.
  • We recovered 19% of reusable metal from slag, between January and April 2025 from our plant in Thailand.
  • Our “Scrap Buy-Back” initiative recycles end-of-life products into new items, with our local presence making recovery more effective.
  • Approximately 80% of our raw materials come from recycled sources.

Advancing responsible consumption and production

Advancing responsible consumption and production

We’re working to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, waste and water consumption. By embedding circularity principles into our operations, we keep valuable resources in use for longer.

  • We have adopted dry cooling systems which reduce water consumption and lower legionella risks, with several sites already implemented and more underway.
  • We transitioned 10 plants from using mineral oil to bio-oil in the quenching process, reducing associated emissions and worker health and safety hazards.
  • Several plants are now powered by renewable energy.

Delivering social impact

We prioritize people – fostering a safe, inclusive, and fair workplace where health and safety are non-negotiable.

  • We aim to achieve no harm in the workplace.
  • We have replaced silica sand with ceramic sand at our Magotteaux Navarra (Spain) and Vaux (Belgium) plants.
  • We have established a fund to support community activities.
