This role is accountable for all aspects of the environment & community relations, safety and security programs as well as ensuring that all EHS regulatory commitments are in compliance and located in Pulaski, TN.

EHS Supervisor

Working with site management team, ensure risks are managed and ensure that company systems and relevant health and safety regulations are adhered to.

Essential duties

  • Actively Coaches staff/supervisors / hourly in leadership behaviors to improve communication, safety behaviours and activities on the shop floor to improve and attain a goal of zero injuries
  • Lead, guide and operationalize the development and implementation of the site’s safety, environment & community relations and security culture, strategy systems, and policies
  • Liaise with all required regulatory agencies to stay apprised of regulatory laws
  • Develop strategies that support growth of the EHS function and enhance EHS practices and performance; provide recommendations on how to improve alignment with overall strategy
  • Ensure that incident and near-miss investigations are conducted on a timely basis, and that effective assessment and analysis, identification of corrective action, and desired follow-up are achieved
  • Personally lead/conduct investigations of major incidents, making recommendations for corrective action and following up to ensure that proactive steps are implemented
  • Work with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with incident reporting and develop and monitor behavior-based safety process and systems
  • Develop return to work and modified work programs
  • Provide support and expertise in identifying site risks and hazards, improve PPE and provide recommendations on appropriate actions to mitigate risks
  • Oversee all required EHS training for managers, employees and contractors
  • Oversee internal audits and inspections of operations, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory requirements, provide recommendations and mitigate gaps in compliance, and follow up to make sure that non-compliance issues are corrected in timely fashion
  • Develop and maintain relevant external partnerships related to workplace health and safety, environment and community to share best practices information
  • Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection
  • Lead the site crisis management process
  • Monitors legislative changes and make recommendations based on their potential impact to the business
  • Participate in industry trade associations

Requirements

  • Three to five years prior experience in a manufacturing setting working in a EHS Role
  • Experience creating, implementing and overseeing behavior-based safety programs
  • Skilled at completing risk assessments
  • Proven leadership skills in a manufacturing environment
  • A team player who can lead by example and influence
  • Sound, comprehensive knowledge of occupational health, and safety regulations
  • The ability to relentlessly follow up to achieve stated deadlines
  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to identify problems, resolve issues, mitigate risks, and initiate continuous improvements initiatives
  • Experience / education relating to ISO14001: 2015 and OHSAS18001
