Mines : valuable mineral recovery
In extractive metallurgy, mineral processing consists in separating commercially valuable minerals from their ores. This process is called valuable mineral recovery. Mineral processing involves four types of operation: comminution (particle size reduction), sizing (particle sizes separation), concentration (by taking advantage of physical and surface chemical properties) and dewatering (solid/liquid separation).
The most important considerations behind all these steps are the economics of the processes which depend on the grade and recovery of the final product, the valuable mineral. Magotteaux has always been active in the field of comminution but has been focusing more recently on material separation and concentration (mainly by flotation cell) with a view to better help their customer in the valuable mineral recovery process as a whole.
